& UNIFORM INFORMATION
This is important stuff.  Read clear to the bottom of the page.

SWIM CAPS & GOGGLES

CAPS:  We require that all Mates and participants in the 25 Club and Animal Lanes programs wear swim caps at every practice.  We sell Face-Up First caps in the pool office.  Latex caps are $8 and silicone caps are $16.   You may purchase a cap from us our wear a cap you purchase elsewhere.  Our outfitter, SwimOutlet.com, has a wide variety of caps for sale.  Read to the bottom of the page for more information on SwimOutlet.com.

What happens if a swimmer shows up to practice without a cap?
Mates will be provided a cap to use.  Animal Lane swimmers and 25 Club swimmers will be asked to leave.  They may not swim without a swim cap.   We encourage, but do not require children under three to wear swim caps.  You can read more about the benefits of swim caps here:  Swim Cap Information

GOGGLES:  We require that all Mates and participants in the 25 Club and Animal Lanes programs bring goggles to every practice.  We sometimes have goggles for sale in the office for $10.  You may purchase goggles from us our wear goggles you purchase elsewhere.

What happens if a swimmer shows up to practice without a goggles?   Mates will be provided goggles to use.  Animal Lane swimmers and 25 Club swimmers will be asked to leave.  They may not swim without goggles.   We do not require children under three to wear goggles.

We recommend these goggles above all others.  They are the Finis H2 Jr. goggle.  There are available at our outfitter, SwimOutlet.com.  Visit www.swimoutlet.com/btaquatics and then type "Finis H2 Jr" in the search box at the top left of the page.  As of May 25, 2010, these goggles were selling for $10.79 at SwimOutlet.com.  These goggles fit almost every little face.  They are great.  (More information on SwimOutlet.com below.)

If you are not going to purchase these goggles, please consider the following when purchasing goggles:  Pick a clear or slightly tinted lens.  The clearer the better, especially for children who are afraid.  We have an indoor pool.  Mirrored or dark colored goggles make it very hard for swimmers to see and it changes the "mood" of the swim for them.  It's like you wearing your sunglasses inside.  There's a difference.  Check the fit of any goggles you purchase.  Remove them from the package and press the eye pieces against your eye sockets without using the strap around your head.  You should be able to create suction enough to hold the goggles in place even when you shake your head.  If you can't get the goggles to suck onto your face, they will leak.  The easiest goggles for kids to wear are the ones with the stretchiest straps, and the fewest separate parts.

Your suit, cap, and goggles make up a uniform for swimming.  Each of the pieces of your uniform are designed to help you swim easier and faster.  It is important to wear the full uniform.  Coming to practice without goggles or a cap is the same as coming without your suit!  We wouldn't let you swim without your suit, and we won't let you swim without cap or goggles.  Start thinking of these separate items as one uniform.

SWIM SUITS:
Our policy will change on September 1, 2010.  Please read the swim suit information carefully.

Summer 2010
We strongly recommend that all Mates wear competitive style training suits:  one-piece training suits for girls and "jammers" for boys - they look like bike shorts.  A swimming suit is a technical piece of equipment for the sport of swimming, not just a fashion item.  Swimmers will learn to swim much faster and easier in a well fitting suit that sheds water.  Did you know that boys surfer style trunks can hold as much as five pounds of water?

What happens if a swimmer shows up to practice without a competitive style training suit?  That swimmer will have a harder time learning to swim than his friends who are wearing appropriate training attire.

September 1, 2010:  Face-Up First Swim School REQUIRES that all swimmers three and older (excluding the Adult Program) wear solid navy colored competitive style training suits.  Swimmers that arrive in any other type of suit will not be allowed in the water.  Solid navy suits are the class uniform and are required to be worn at every class.

What happens if a swimmer shows up to practice without a competitive style training suit?  We exempt toddlers under 3 from the training suit rule.  Mates, Voyagers, Animal Lanes swimmers, and 25 Club swimmers will all be asked to leave without entering the water if they show up in anything but a solid navy competitive style training suit.

These are photos of acceptable style swimming suits.  These Speedo Learn to Swim suits are available at our outfitter, SwimOutlet.com.  On May 25, 2010 the girls suit listed for $28.00 and was on sale for $22.50.  There was another style, the wide strap, that was on sale for $14.95.  The boys suit listed for $19.95 and was on sale for $9.95.

SwimOutlet.com carries navy training suits in several different styles from several different brands.  Be sure to choose a suit that comes in navy.  We require
solid navy suits.  (Please do not call to ask if a navy suit with red or white or gold trim is acceptable.  Suits must be solid navy.)

To find suits, visit www.swimoutlet.com/btaquatics and then click on Women's Swimwear, Men's Swimwear, and Kids Swimwear from the menu at left.  There are kids sizes in all three of those places.  You will have to click on Racing or Competition once you make the first selection.  There are lots of choices in all price ranges.

SwimOutlet.com is not the only swim shop out there on line, but we think they are the best!  They offer a wide selection of quality products for good prices.  Please support B-T Aquatics by shopping through our affiliate link.  Click on the SwimOutlet logo or here:  www.swimoutlet.com/btaquatics, or type in swimoutlet.com and add the slash (/) and btaquatics.  You should see a small banner at the top of every page indicating that you are shopping through our affiliate page.  The SwimOutlet.com logo with a link to our page is located in the main menu section at the top of every page in our website.
