   It's time to learn about...

  Swimming with a Buddy

 Never swim alone.

For safety in swimming we recommend

that you always go swimming with at least one friend.

You need an adult to supervise your splashing,

to keep everyone safe, and to make your day smashing!

B-T Aquatics Motto:  We swim for good times!

Good times in the swimming pool always involve more than one person.

It’s important to never go swimming by yourself.  It’s not a good idea to play near a swimming pool by yourself either.  Always have a buddy with you in and near a swimming pool.

Adults are your best buddies!  Have an adult watch you swim, even when you are swimming in your own back yard.

Most of the time I don't like to use the words "never" and "always," however in this instance they are appropriate:

  • NEVER swim alone - not even for just a few minutes.

  • ALWAYS have an adult with you when you swim.  Always means during every second you are in or near the water.  If the adult watching you needs to use the restroom or talk on the phone for a minute, you need to get out of the water and wait until she can watch you again.

How can you help keep yourself safe?

Be smart.  Stay away from the swimming pool when you are by yourself.

Be patient.  When you really like swimming you can be in a hurry to get into the pool.  You may have to wait for your family and friends.  Do not go in the water until everyone is ready.

Be a good sport.  Get out of the water without complaining when asked.  Sometimes your adult may need you to get out of the water to keep you safe.  Jump right out with a smile on your face, even if you are a little sad.  You want to be safe too, right?

Test yourself...

What is the one swimming "never?"

How can you help keep yourself safe?
