B-T AQUATICS MILEAGE MONDAYS

Go the distance.

Open Water is a branch of swimming that is done in rivers, lakes, and in the ocean.  Open Water is now an Olympic sport and will be contested for the first time at the Beijing Games in August 2008.  In open water swimming conditions vary and athletes must not only be in good physical condition, they must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in currents, and weather.

Although 10K is the Olympic distance there are open water events of many distances and formats. There are a variety of Open Water Swims available in the area.  To help prepare for thee events we are offering a series of Mileage Mondays.  These events will provide swimmers of all ages and ability levels the opportunity to prepare for the challenge of open water swimming.  Even if you don't plan to swim an open water event, Mileage Mondays provide several opportunities to test yourself at the pool mile distance, 1650 yards.  It's fun and it's good for you!
