GENERAL INFORMATION

No sun?  No problem!  The Brownell-Talbot Theisen Pool is a beautiful, indoor, 6-lane, 25 yard facility.  We have a one-meter diving board, four teaching platforms, an underwater viewing window, and an elevated spectator gallery.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS:  The pool is usually open for Fitness Swims and Family Swims during the school year when Brownell-Talbot School has a day off or school holiday.  We are open in June and July, but are typically closed much of August and the first week in September.

GENERAL ADMISSION:  Fitness Swim and Family Swim admissions are $3 per swimmer regardless of age.  Current B-T students and faculty/staff are exempt from general admission for Fitness and Family Swim.  You swim for free!  Family members of current B-T students and everyone else using the pool during these times must pay before they swim.  If you are paying for a guest, please put the exact amount in cash or check in the drop box located in the pool office before you swim.

SAFETY FIRST:  Click for Water Safety Page

WATER TEMPERATURE:  The Theisen Pool is kept at a wonderfully warm 86 degrees year round.

CLOSING TIME:  Please exit the pool fifteen minutes before the posted closing time.  This allows for a fifteen-minute shower/dress period in the locker rooms before the doors are locked at closing time.  If you need more than fifteen minutes to dress, please leave yourself enough dressing time to exit the building at our posted time.

LOST & FOUND:  Check your bags before you leave after each swim.  Items left in non-rental lockers will be removed and treated as lost and found items.  Do not leave clothes, towels, toiletries, and swim equipment in the lockers overnight.  Swimmers who have lost something at the pool should immediately report the loss to the pool office and check the lost and found collection that is kept in the pool office.  Items in the lost and found collection are cleaned out and disposed of regularly.  All toiletries, socks, underwear, and all hair ornaments and ties are treated as trash, not Lost & Found items.

MEMBERSHIPS:  Due to the dynamic nature of our schedule and the ever increasing use of the pool for educational programs, Brownell-Talbot School does not offer pool memberships.  We are unable to guarantee specific hours and so will not accept membership money for a commitment to provide a minimum number of hours.  Fitness Swim and Family Swim availability is evaluated each week based on the instructional and competitive program schedule.

MORE INFORMATION

LOCKER USE:  All of our lockers are day-use only.  Please remove locks and locker content each day when you leave.  An exception to this is during the high school swimming season (Mid-November through February).  We do check out lockers to our high school student athletes, so if public swimming time becomes available during the high school season you may see locks left on overnight.

WEATHER POLICY:  Any time that Brownell-Talbot School is closed due to weather conditions, all aquatics events and Open/Lap Swim are cancelled.  If Brownell-Talbot cancels after-school and evening activities due to weather, all aquatics events and Family/Fitness Swim are cancelled.  If severe weather threatens, check the news outlets.  I may not be able to get this site updated on a school snow day.

We do not issue refunds or schedule make-ups for events cancelled due to weather conditions.

PRIORITIES:  The B-T Theisen Pool is typically used 86-94 hours per week and we still can't accommodate everyone who wants to use the pool.  We prioritize the use of the pool as follows:  1)  Instructional Use   2)  Competitive Use   3) Recreational / Fitness Use   AND   1)  Children   2) Adults.

POOL RENTALS:  The pool is available to rent for special events.  The rental time block is Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  Visit the Rental Page for more information.

FITNESS SWIM INFORMATION:  During Fitness Swim hours the pool is open for lap swimming and water exercise.  While we are not often crowded, sometimes swimmers do have to share lanes.  There is no minimum age for participating in Fitness Swim.  There is also no "recreational swimming" during Fitness Swim.  (No pool toys, cannonballs off the diving board, etc.)  Family Swim on Saturdays and Pirate Parties are the times for that kind of fun.

SCHEDULE:  Typical hours for B-T Fitness Swims are listed below.  Some additional hours may be available during the day when we are teaching lessons.  The schedule is updated weekly and posted on our HOME PAGE.  We do not guarantee a specific number or even a minimum number of hours that will be made available for fitness swimming.    We provide some fitness time, but B-T Aquatics is primarily a teaching and competitive facility and the schedule will always be dictated by the needs of our educational programs, competitive swimmers, and our teaching staff.
