The Mutual of Omaha B-T 500 Swimming Award test is open
to any swimmer. Swimmers need not be students at Brownell-Talbot school or
participating in swimming programs at the B-T pool. Swimmers of every age
are welcome to take the test and earn the award.
Receipt of the B-T 500 Swimming Award signifies mastery
of exceptional swimming skills. Swimmers who take the test must complete
the following three swims within 12 minutes:

Swim a continuous 200 yards (8 lengths) crawl stroke
with side breathing; demonstrating strength and endurance.

Swim a continuous 200 yards (8 lengths) backstroke;
demonstrating lifesaving endurance

Swim a continuous 100 yard individual medley (1 length
each of the four competitive strokes in the following order:
butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle); demonstrating stroke
proficiency
Upon successful completion of these distances - no
special dives or turns are required, participants will receive a B-T 500 medal
and t-shirt.
Contact the B-T Aquatics office at 402-556-1205 to
schedule your test. The test is usually given on Monday evenings.
Alternate days and times may be available If you would like to bring in a group
of swimmers to take the challenge. (If you bring a minimum of six
swimmers, we'll buy the pizza or the bagels!) The registration fee is $10 per
swimmer.
